Danger High Voltage is one of Big Time Gaming’s most popular video slots, and it’s based around Electric Six’s song of the same name. The game is famed for possessing some insane win-potential, and two exciting bonus rounds offer near uncapped win-potential. Find out all about the game in our Danger High Voltage slot review.
Danger! High Voltage is a song from the American rock band Electric Six, and the song became an instant hit, reaching number-one in Scotland, and named as ‘Single of the Week’ by NME. It’s quite a weird song, but it’s pretty catchy – and this is perhaps why Big Time Gaming opted to base an entire slot around the song!
Danger High Voltage is a 6-reel, 4-row video slot with a whopping 4096-ways-to-win. (This means winning combos are made as long as there are enough symbols in adjacent rows, starting from left-to-right.) Danger High Voltage can be played from between 20p and £40 per spin, and like most of BTG’s games, it’s fully mobile-optimized, allowing to be played from most mobile devices. The slot’s RTP is fixed at 95.67%.
Danger High Voltage is set in some kind of neon-lit nightclub, and you’ll see some colourful flashing lights behind the reels. Like most of BTG’s slots, it’s designed well, and high-quality graphics are seen throughout the gameplay. There’s also a pretty funky soundtrack that accompanies each spin, and the actual song – Danger! High Voltage – plays during the feature teases, and during the bonuses themselves! Naturally, there’s an autoplay feature (which lets you pre-set up to 100 spins to play out automatically), and there’s also a detailed information page, where you can view the paytable and game rules.
Danger High Voltage’s Symbols and Payouts
The game’s symbols are varied. The low-value ones are all playing card values, and include a 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace. The theme-specific symbols are the higher-value ones, and these include a Taco, a Mirror Ball, a Bell, and the Purple Skull. The Skull is the top-paying symbol, and matching a 5-of-a-kind combo will award a total of 25X your total bet. This may not sound like a lot, but when you start making wins using a multiplying wild (see below), you’ll see how it’s easy to start hitting some mega wins!
There are two types of wild symbols in the game. The first are the ‘regular wilds’, and these appear on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. They cover the entire reel, and substitute for all symbols aside from the scatter symbols. The second wild is the ‘6X wild’, and again, this lands only on reels 2-5. You can learn more about how the 6X wilds work, later on in this post.
The final symbol is the ‘My Desire’ Heart symbol. This is the game’s scatter, and it appears on all reels. Landing three or more of these scatters will trigger the main Free Spins Bonus.
Bonuses and Features
Danger High Voltage is famed for its (potentially) high-paying bonuses. Keep reading to find out all about them!
During the base-game it’s possible to land between 1 and 3 of the 6X multiplier wilds on the centre 4 reels. If you’re lucky enough to land 2 or 3, they multiply against one another. So, landing 2 of them would award a 36X multiplier, and landing 3 would award a massive 216X multiplier. It’s possible to get wins of 1,000X upwards here – and they happen frequently too, as multiple YouTube videos will prove!
If you land three or more of the ‘My Desire’ scatter symbols anywhere in view, you’ll trigger the main free-spins bonus. You then get to choose one of two options, as shown below:
High Voltage Free Spins: The High Voltage Free Spins bonus awards you with 15 free-spins. A special High Voltage Wild is added to the reels, and this multiplies any wins by between 11X and 66X. It’s possible to re-trigger the feature an unlimited number of times, and this is achieved by landing another three or more of the scatter symbols anywhere in view.
Gates of Hell Free Spins: The Gates of Hell Free spins option awards you with 7 free-spins. Before the spins begin, one of the game’s symbols is chosen at random to act as a sticky wild. During the bonus, if this symbol lands anywhere in view on reels two, three, four or five, it will transform into a wild, and ‘stick’ in place for the remainder of the bonus. If you manage to land four sticky wilds on one reel (turning the reel fully wild), you will be awarded another 3 free-spins, allowing for a potential maximum of 19 free-spins.
Danger HIgh Voltage could very well turn out to be Big Time Gaming’s most popular release in history – tied, perhaps, with Bonanza. While the base-game can be a bit feral at times, there’s some insane win-potential, especially if you can lane two or three of the 6X wild reels. The bonus round isn’t usually too hard to land, and both the High Voltage and Gates of Hell free-spins can pay some absurd amounts of money.
We personally like the Gates of Hell bonus. While it’s more volatile than the High Voltage free-spins, the right ‘wild setup’ can see you awarded up to 18 free-spins, and this is where the big money is found.
Danger High Voltage is without a doubt a slot worth playing, and the mega potential that it contains means it’s a suitable option for all players wanting that ‘big win potential’.
