Wynn Resorts has revealed artistic renderings for a grandiose $12 billion project, aiming to construct a sprawling complex on Hudson Yards, once a resting place for LIRR trains on Manhattan’s West Side.
Crafted by renowned real estate firm Related Companies, the ambitious proposal showcases an 80-story tower towering over the Hudson River, housing a luxurious gaming facility and hotel. Encircling the radiant casino skyscraper would be office buildings, residential towers, and a vast 5.6-acre park.
Tourists strolling along the High Line, a repurposed elevated train line now serving as a public park, would find themselves directly passing by the site, with the opportunity to venture into the expansive resort nestled between West 30th Street and 33rd Streets, and 11th and 12 Avenues.
Dubbed Hudson Yards West, the endeavor, in partnership with the Oxford Properties Group, promises to generate 35,000 union construction jobs and provide 5,000 permanent positions within the resort, according to planners.
Advocates of the project emphasize the hotel’s strategic location, positioning it as an indispensable destination for attendees of events at the nearby Javits Center. They argue that the development could significantly bolster tourism and economic growth in New York City.
Jeff Blau, CEO of Related Companies stated
Hudson Yards has already proven to be an unparalleled catalyst for the New York economy, first through tens of thousands of construction jobs and now as home to the world’s leading companies, retail and housing.
Moving forward with the second phase of development presents an incredible opportunity to double the impact and provide generational benefits to the State, City, and especially our West Side neighbors. We look forward to completing our vision for the neighborhood in partnership with Wynn Resorts and revealing full project plans as part of our application to New York State.
While Craig Billings the CEO of Wynn Resorts added:
As the leading designer, developer, and operator of premium gaming resorts in the world, Wynn New York City will attract luxury and aspirational travelers to our destination resort in Hudson Yards.
Wynn guests consistently spend more when they travel. That results in greater tax revenues for the city and state and more spending in the local community, all with less foot traffic than might be required at other resorts.
