Big Time Gaming Slots

Starquest is a video slot from Big Time Gaming, and this outer-space themed slot features the developer’s famed ‘Megaways’ mechanic, which means there’s up to 117,649-ways-to-win on each spin! Like most of BTG’s games, Starquest offers some insane win-potential – and an exciting Multiplying Wild Reels feature can see wild reels worth up to 5X! Learn all about the game in our Starquest slot review.

Big Time Gaming are well-known for their intuitive and creative themes, and Starquest takes you on a journey through outer space, as you join an attractive girl as she ventures to new planets and stars. As you’re journey through the cosmos, you’ll be trying to pick up some big wins – and while it’s one of the developer’s older games, it’s still one of their most played – you’ll see why shortly!

Starquest is a 6-reel video slot which used BTG’s Megaways game mechanic. This means that on each spin, the number of symbols per reel varies, and there can be between 2 and 7 symbols per reel, on each spin. If all 6 reels land the maximum 7 symbols, there’s a whopping 117,649-ways-to-win. You can view the number of Megaways active on each spin at the top of the screen. Starquest is playable from between 20p and £20 per spin, and it’s fully mobile-optimized, so it can be played from mobile devices as well as desktop devices. The game has a fixed RTP of 96.22%.

Visually, Starquest looks great, and the reels are set against a space themed backdrop. You’ll see a colorful planet to the left-hand-side, and numerous stars and meteors can be seen in the distance, all radiating around the reels. While there isn’t a particularly impressive musical soundtrack, the game just works – and it’s great fun to play, as everything comes together really well. There’s also an autoplay feature available which lets you play up to 100 spins automatically without needing to click the ‘Spin’ button each time.

Starquest’s Symbols and Payouts

Like most of Big Time Gaming’s video slots, Starquest uses playing card values to represent the low-value symbols. You’ll see a 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace. The game’s high-value symbols are represented by Red, Blue, and Green Gems. The top-paying symbol is the Purple ‘SQ’, and landing a 6-of-a-kind combo of these awards 15X your stake.

You won’t find any scatter symbols in Starquest, but there are stacked wilds – and these appear on reels two, three, four and five. You can find out how these work in the ‘Bonuses and Features’ section below.

Bonuses and Features

Surprisingly, Starquest doesn’t have a bonus round – but as you’ll soon see, that’s not really a problem, and the game can deliver some massive wins!

Wild Re-Spins

Each time one of the stacked wilds lands on reels two, three, four, or five, it will lock in place and award a re-spin. The wild will also show a multiplier (starting at 1X.) On the re-spin, if you manage to land any more wilds, they will also lock in place and more re-spins will be awarded. Each time a re-spin is awarded, the wild multiplier increases by 1X.

The multipliers multiply against one another, so if you had two 2X multipliers for example, the win would be multiplied by 4X. Add another 2X multiplier in, and it’s multiplied by 8X, and so on.

You can see how much it’s possible to win with this kind of setup – and it’s possible to land stacked wilds on the middle four reels, amounting to humungous win-potential!

Our Verdict

Starquest from Big Time Gaming is an excellent game, and a perfect marriage between game and content. The slot is incredibly exciting to play (thanks to its insane win-potential), without ever being boring, and the recent graphics update has made it look all the better, too!

While some players will probably be turned off due to the distinct lack of a Free Spins Bonus, the Wild Re-Spins feature really can pay – and quick searches of YouTube and various online gambling forums will reveal videos and screenshots showing wins worth thousands of times the player’s stake.

There’s very few reasons not to try Starquest – and you can see the best places to play it for real money, below. If you’d like to try something a little less volatile, you may also like Big Time Gaming’s Temple Quest Spinfinity. It’s a re-made of ‘Temple Quest’ – one of their older, less-popular games, but they’ve pulled it off pretty well.
